Clean and DeClutter Your Pantry

It seems like you either have too much packaging from the warehouse stores, like Costco or Sams, or you have not enough packaging because you’re buying from the supermarket bulk bins where they have no package at all, or you have packaging that just doesn’t quite work right for your pantry. We’re going to look at all three of those problems and have a few solutions for you.

The same tips for cleaning and organizing your pantry can also be used for cleaning and organizing an office supply closet. Cleaning and decluttering your home or office gives you peace of mind!

More Great Handy Tips, Clean for you in Charlotte NC

If you’ve ever had one of those “why didn’t I think of that?!” moments, you’re going to love what’s in store today. From new ways to reuse products you already have, to simple time savers, I headed back to New York this morning to show the folks at TODAY seven different tips and tricks for making things easier around the home.

1. Use cupcake liners as Popsicle drip catchers:
Popsicles are awesome. Sticky fingers are not. Cupcake liners to the rescue! Just poke a hole in the base and then wrap one liner around each Popsicle stick. This is a GREAT trick for messy young kids — or TODAY hosts wearing nice suits.

Clean your Glass Top Stove

Cleaning expert, Melissa Maker, walks you through the products and tools you’ll need as well as the simple steps to cleaning a glass stovetop quickly and effectively.

If you don’t take care of it, you’ll get unsightly build-up along with scratching, pitting (tiny chips, craters or dents in the glass) and that can lead to cracking, which means you need to replace the stovetop ($$$).

Cleaning with Baking Soda

When it comes to household versatility, baking soda is king. Here are just some of the many cleaning uses for sodium bicarbonate.

Step 1: Remove stains

Get rid of stains on countertops, sinks, bathtubs, and any nonporous surface you can think of with a paste of three parts baking soda to one part water. Apply the paste to a damp sponge, scrub away, and rinse.

Tip

Baking soda works well on metallic surfaces, like chrome or stainless steel. It won’t scratch the surface, but it’s abrasive enough to remove residue and leave the metal shining.
